Sangak bread was traditionally the bread of the Persian army. Each soldier carried a small pouch of pebbles which at camp was brought together to form a makeshift oven.
Sangak bread is made from wholemeal flour usually topped with poppy or sesame seeds. Sangak is a versatile bread that can be paired with many traditional middle eastern dishes including soups, stews and kebabs.
